Honestly, I don't know where to start. We had a jam packed Friday Night Sewcial, we sold out of spaces for the August FN Sewcials, and we sold out of our August Sip and Sew in less than two days. If you think you are alone in this sewing world, think again! I just posted dates for the September Friday Night Sewcials. Sign up soon- we'll be filling up, I'm sure!
Last week, we had 5 separate deliveries of fabric- all gorgeous, and we have 3 more shipments arriving this week (think Japanese double gauze!). The shelves are stocked with fun new cottons, gorgeous silk, vibrant voiles, fall knits, lovely rayon challis (date night dress class, anybody?!!), and more.
Come in and see what we've been squealing about. Want to help me decide what's coming next? Follow me on facebook to get in on the action (and select that you want us in your feed, if you like!). I'm also on Pinterest, Twitter, Instagram (@finchsewingstudio), and Flickr (finchhandmade). I know, it's a lot- thank goodness for iPhones.
About those new classes... I have had the privilege of sewing with a long list of really wonderful sewists and quilters. And lucky for Finch Sewing Studio, there are some fabulous teachers in that bunch too. Drumroll, please....
Anna Haller is a member of the DC Modern Quilt Guild and a Moda Baker (quilter for the Moda Fabrics Bakeshop). She designs some really amazing quilt patterns, one of which will be featured in Quilty Magazine next month. She's an expert quilter with an infectious passion for the craft, and I'm thrilled that she's teaching at the Finch. Her classes include a great range of exciting offerings: The Metal Frame Purse Class, The Quilt as You Go Basket Class, The Drawstring Bag Class, and the The Learn to Quilt Pillows Class. The Quilted Pillows class is the first instalment in a series of classes on quilt blocks and techniques. She'll be working on a more challenging block and set of techniques for the next round- if you want to start quilting, this is a great class for you! I'll be introducing another new teacher this week as well. She'll be taking on our new knitting classes as well as some sewing classes. Hooray!
More new classes include the Date Night Dress, the Ruched Scarf Class, the Calling All Ladies Tee Shirt class, the Designer Denim Hem class, and many more. This week, we have the ever popular Maxi Skirt Class on Wednesday, the first of two installments of the Date Night Dress Class on Thursday night and Saturday, the Tote or Clutch class on Friday night, and the Laurel Shirt on Sunday, Check out our calendar (Calendar 9.2013) or visit the shop (online or in person) to see all the details and to register.
And for the kiddos, there's an American Girl Doll class that's on the schedule. I expect that one will be quite popular. Sign up soon!
Be sure to come pet the fabric sometime soon! We'd love to see you.
xoxo, The Finch
