The Anna Dress- Pattern and Fabric Review

One of my very favorite pattern companies right now is By Hand London.  I have to admit that I was a little unsure at first- it was hard to see what the dresses would look like once they were made up, but after making my own Elisalex dress and so many versions of the Anna dress, I'm a true believer. If you have been in the shop, you've seen this one on my dress form. anna dress21

I love this dress.  I feel good in it, and I think that's exactly what clothes should feel like.  The first time I made it, I did it in a Rayon Challis (which was great).  This time, I decided I'd try this slinky ITY knit. It's so stinking comfortable, I can't even tell you.anna dress22

Given that it is a knit fabric, I thought it'd be fun to do a lower back and skip the zipper all together. Yup, no zippy zip. I know, that's pretty compelling, huh?! Wasn't it lucky that the wind was kicking during these photos?!anna dress42

I also chose the to put the slit in this time- I didn't last time. This little detail makes it a great date night dress, of course...  and that's exactly what we did last night- sushi and a movie!  Good times!  Anyway, you can find our knit fabrics here, and the By Hand London patterns are here.  What's great about the pattern is that it can be done in almost any fabric- our lightweight denim would be so great in the shorter version, voile or even this silk! Our dress class for April 19th is full, but there's another date coming on June 21st and 28th.  And there are a few other options for dresses in this class too.  We'd love to have you!

Happy Sewing!
