August Finch Box is in the Wild!

The August Finch Box is out, and we are so delighted with it! We hope you all love it as much as we do! Here's what you will find inside:

In the sewing kit this month we couldn't resist including these gorgeous Rifle Paper fabrics, and we have given you everything you need – zipper, trim, and color instruction booklet – to create your own canvas travel bag. The kit is worth $25, and the project is really straightforward and fun. The finished bag is so multi-purpose. It could make a lovely home for some of your crafting supplies!

We have also included cotton + steel 50 wt. thread by sulky in a color to compliment the travel bag kit. This is not just any thread! It is made from Egyptian grown, extra-long cotton and is twisted, dyed, and finished in Italy with the final winding in Germany. Every stage is carefully managed, and it shows in this all-purpose thread. It retails at $8.50 (or 3 for $23). See the full range here, and keep an eye on this blog, where we'll be posting a feature about this special new line of threads.

Our sewing kit this month also includes a pair of cute stork scissors, worth $16. Which color did you get? You can't have too many scissors, and we're sure this will be your prettiest pair! Now that you have them you won't know how you managed without them.

Aren't these Rifle Paper Co. notepads adorable? We have included one, worth $7, in every box, sew or knit. You can use them to plan your next projects! They are just the right size to carry around in your handbag (or new travel bag!), so you'll be ready to make a note whenever inspiration strikes.

Now, on to the knit box! Well, first up we included one of these handy fabric zipper pouches to store all your stitch markers, buttons, etc. Worth $10, they are made with the same beautiful Rifle Paper Co. fabrics featured in the sew box. The pouch fastens with a cute little zipper in a complimentary color, and with a leather zip pull.

We have also included a donut pom pom maker worth $16 in every knit box! Who doesn't need one of these?! They are so sweet (excuse the pun) and easy to use, and the finished pom pom is always a happy surprise. It's such a great way to use up leftover yarn. We hope to have you all adorning your knitted hats and scarves with unique and eye-catching pom poms!

Our knit box this month also includes a Coco Knits stitch holder. Could this be any more gorgeous? This beautiful set is both super functional and beautiful to use and store. The kit contains two interior-threaded needles made of nickel plated steel, three lengths of leather cord (one long – for holding sts of sweater body (59"/150 cm), and two short – for holding sts of sleeves (29.5"/75 cm)), and it also comes in a reusable kraft drawer, lined with 100% wool felt to keep the leather and steel in great condition.

Use the Stitch Holder Kit in lieu of scrap yarn whenever you need to hold live stitches. The threaded needles allow you to knit off of your leather cord. Please just note that you may need to snip the end of your leather cord at an angle to facilitate attaching the needle. The presentation box makes this a lovely gift, but equally it's such a useful thing to have we will totally understand if you want to keep it all to yourself!

Last but not least, in your knit box you will find everything you need to create one of these super-special MAKE necklaces! We partnered with another maker, Jill Foreman of Jill Makes who hand crafted beautiful custom brass pendants that read "Make". The thread we sourced for the necklace is perfectly metallic and exactly the right weight to feel very much like jewelry (and I might add, the most expensive thread I've ever bought!). We have given you approximately 2 1/4 yards – plenty to achieve the perfect length and to create a hand made tassel at each necklace end. The kit includes approximately eighty Japanese glass beads, the quality of which can be found both in their color and functionality, and two beading needles. We have also included a full color instruction booklet to guide you through the project.

The whole kit is worth $30, and we hope that if ever you feel that you have lost your making mojo you will wear your necklace with pride and find inspiration. Keep your eyes on this blog for our interview with Jill Makes, coming soon!

Now, ready, set, get making!
